I am a single mum and currently get £393.45 and I get support for 1 child £287.92 no help with rent.

I am based in wales with a 2 and a half year old and I am thinking of going back to work with a new job doing 35 hours a week with a salary of £30,940. I don't think I will get help with universal credit anymore which i think I might manage however can I get help on childcare?
Will I be able to get 80% off?

My nursery fees are £56 per day.. a month would be £1120. With fees being paid for etc I'd be basically getting the same on universal credit. Is anyone in the same position and what help do you get? I have no family here btw it's just me so no help there either unfortunately

Thanks in advance

If you’re no longer entitled to UC then no you won’t get 80%. But you would get 15 free hours, then 30 free hours once threshold changes and on top of that you can use tax free childcare so the gov tops up £2 for every £8 you put in, up to a max of £500 every 3 months which would help.

I'd recommend using a benefit calculator like Entitled To. Based off a very quick calculation (and assuming a 5% pension contribution) I think you could get about £900 universal credit, including the childcare element.

Max UC: £1696 made up of your current elements plus the childcare element of £1014.63

Estimated monthly income: £2046.72

First £673 is disregarded. 55p on the £1 taken off your UC award after that.

The OP lives in Wales, you're quoting the free hours available in England.
