CM CLUB: Every Day Medication - Record Keeping Advice.....

What do you do if you have a mindee who needs a cream put on daily for Dry Skin/Eczema? This cream tends to be put on at nappy change time to keep the skin moisturised. It's prescribed.

Looking at the Medication Book, it looks like every single application needs to be recorded and signed for but this seems a bit excessive. Is there any way round it or does mum really have to sign several bits each day to say I can give and to prove I've informed her about each time?

TIA

I use the larger page & initial each time I use the cream

But tbh I have designed & printed my own off which is a lot cheaper than NCMA

Cheers Katy, will do that at some point so save my NCMA book . I just didn't want to hold mum up every single night and also, she collects at a time I'm up to my eyes in sorting kids dinners so not ideal. Oh well.

What about if a parent just asks if you can put something like E45 cream on them but not prescribed and not medical?

I also believe that come September, we will not be able to apply sudacrem etc. without daily signatures plus nothing that isn't prescribed can be used? It's going OTT if you ask me, certainly NOT what the parents want!!

Ah well Medications post september it gets complicated

The nothing except prescribed is a bit of a con - as if you read the lit it says prescribed by a DR/Nurse or pharmacist so if you ask the chemist for calpol you have fulfilled the letter of the law (IYSWIM)

Really....I haven't had any literature about medicines (well, unless it's all included in EYFS stuff - not read it all ) I just heard this on our recent First Aid course.

It is in EYFS
