Two year old in two nurseries?

Hello

I’m currently scrambling round to find childcare for my 2 year old after a previous arrangement fell through. I’ve found him a place in a lovely local preschool however it’s term time only and so I’ll need another option
to fit around work. I’m a single parent. I’ve looked at some childminders but I’m not sure it’s right for my DC. I’m considering having him 2 days a week in the nursery school, and 2 days in a private nursery. Does anyone have any experience of this? If so, how did it go for your child?

I’m naturally concerned about the amount of upheaval for him and how this could affect him in both the short and long-term, but I also have to consider practical implications such as cost, and 4 full days in the private setting (even with funded hours) would be pretty extortionate - and they may not be able to accommodate this either.

If anyone does have experience of this set up please do share your thoughts. Good, bad, otherwise. It’s all very helpful!

Thank you x

My DD did this, but was probably 3 when we switched her to 2 settings. We did it deliberately as she was in a lovely day nursery, but most of the children she would start reception with went to the attached preschool. We couldn't switch full time as the days weren't long enough. She was fine with it, made friends in both, including her BFF, who only overlapped 1 day a week, but that was her favourite day. She had a slight preference for nursery over preschool, but that was because nursery was very child led and she could almost always do what she wanted. Preschool was a bit more structured, which was probably useful in preparing for school.
