Child too ill for school - what would you do?

The older sibling of a child I mind has a bad cold and is too sick for school tomorrow. Mum wants to know if I can look after him for the day. I have the space. What would you do in this situation?

do you fancy having a bad cold and having all your charges having a bad cold .. that's what you risk

Spidermama · 13/04/2008 12:19

I've never been too bothered about catching colds and illnesses from others. They're all going around anyway and can't be avoided.

I think it depends how you feel about the workload and to what extent you could do with the extra money.

I have my own dd and this child's younger sibling tomorrow.

I would go for it chicken. It seems an easy way of earning a bit extra.

Ok, cool, thanks spider - I'll let mum know it's ok

one of my mindees i only have in holidays and if shes not well enough for school!!!!!.shes normally just too tired to go as has night time cough regularly.

I would be ok with it. Even if you said no, it's likely the younger sibling will catch it in the end and pass it on to you anyway!! And you don't have any other family's kids.

In cases where I have done a one-off day I don't do a contract, but I do get them to sign an A&E form just in case.
