30 funded hours

Hey,
I've been working 20hrs a week and next week I start a new job which is 18hrs a week but much closer to home and more importantly term time only. OH works full time.

My eldest is in school but my youngest is three so we've been claiming the 30 funded hours for her.

My query is. 30 funded hours online says you need to work minimum of 16hrs at min wage (£183 a week) in order to qualify. I technically do earn this, however as my new job is term time only, I only get paid 42 weeks of the year so my wages are split over 12 months in order to allow me some pay during the holidays. Obviously this then brings me below (by £10!) per week of the qualifying amount for the childcare. However, without the 30 hours funding, I don't think I can afford to work as all of my wages will end up going on childcare. Does anyone know how this would work? I'm hoping that we are still allowed the 30 hours 🤞🏼 I will ring tomorrow to ask the question but just wondered if anyone had any experience with this.

Thanks in advance.

No you need to meet the minimum income threshold to be eligible. If you're getting 30 hours then your child must be 3 or 4 so you will still get 15 hours as this is universal. Only the extra 15 hours is for working parents.

Can you ask for 1 extra hours work?

Ah so annoyed with myself! I just didn't even think about it, still working Monday-friday so just didn't even cross my mind. Obviously in my current job I've been making above the threshold so it's not been an issue.

I can definitely ask, it's an option. Thank you

Nope.

Can you ask to be paid differently?

No, you aren’t working enough hours/earning enough to qualify. Can you ask to up your hours so you do enough? Otherwise you’ll get 15 hours.

It's not about how she's paid, she still needs to earn £183 per week.
