Childcare fees as of September

Just curious as to what people will be paying from September with 15 funded hours added? Haven't had the invoice yet so unsure but my bad maths have said about £500 ish before tax free discount. That's 2 full days 8-18:00. In the south east.
Nappies/wipes etc not included but meals & snacks are.

@Fishcake15
I'm a childminder in the north and I charge £60 per day. It's fairly standard here. Nurserys local to me are £55-£80 a day.

£60 is too much for a childminder compared to what they get at Nursery IMO but I'm not paying you so each to their own.

Nope! I absolutely wasn't saying that at all, someone else did. What I was saying was that child minders are generally cheaper than Nurseries and that the South get ripped off because everything costs less in the North. My Nursery is cheaper up here than a Childminder is down South. That's literally all I said 😂

You said if I charged that little, you're not sure you'd trust me 100%.

And then weirdly backtracked and said I was extortionate!

Clearly either on a wind up, or trying to be deliberately insulting.

To clarify, neither of your statements are true. I charge exactly the same as other cms in the area (nurseries are 80-95) and I am indeed very trustworthy.

65 x 8 is 520....

Minus the funding the OP is asking about?

Minus the funding the OP is asking about?

I assumed OP meant she would be paying £500 per month not per week.

I think the post is ambiguous.

I assumed the child is attending 20 hours, 15 of which will be funded.

I think £500 is quite a lot for 5 hours per week? Even monthly that's over £100/week.

cmforfun · 26/06/2024 18:32

@Fishcake15
So you wouldn't trust us if we charged too little but you're clearly not happy if we charge too much. Sounds like a wind up!

@Fishcake15 a nursery in the SE could well be over £100 PER DAY.

£65:for a childminder was normal in Yorkshire 10 years ago!

I was a childminder in Yorkshire until ten years ago. I charged £40 a day

What do you feel is missing in a cm from a nursery?

But your housing and commercial premises are lower so rates have to be higher down south to cover it. I could buy a 5/6 bed detached with land if I sold my pokey 3 bed in a shitty area and moved north

staringatthedoor · 27/06/2024 06:08

For those that asked its standard rate is £90 a day. Funded hours 'fee' is 3.50 an hour.
Can stretch the hours over the year so works out at 11 a week. So currently it's just over 700 a month before discount. When my eldest had 30 hours there a few years ago I still payed 260.

Obv that's not with funded hours - which is around £4/5ph is that right. So will need to top up each hour

Yes they have said £3.50 an hour for those on funded hours.

Currently we pay £800+ a month for 4 days at nursery. In September tge hours will kick in and DS will start preschool so will be £41 a week. Nursery charge for lunch and a consumable fee on top of the funded hours (£10 a day plus £4 for lunch) so we would only save around £200 if he was at nursery when the hours kick in.

Stressedoutforever · 28/06/2024 06:29

Mine is £320 ish after tax free for 2 days a week

TooLateForRoses · 28/06/2024 06:33

Are you claiming the tax free childcare?
