Hello

i am thnking of becoming a childminder when my maternity leave finishes and there is a chance my brother (who currently works as a nursery nurse)will become a childminder too and we will both work from my house (he lives with my parents so cant childmind there). Has anyone done this before or heard it done? i cant work out how we would go about the finances, my DH is concerned that my brother would end up better off as it would be my house that gets the wear and tear, bills would be higher etc.
any advice/thoughts would be much appreciated
thanks

I've not done it but my sister used to send her children to a mother and daughter who both minded in the daughters house.

You can claim money off you tax for waer and tear, bills etc. I assume that if your brother works at your house he couldn't do this.

Also space will be an issue so unless your house is really spacious there may be a problem with numbers.

i know of a lady who childminded in her house and had another childminder working alongside her too

it seemed to work really well for them as they could have more children, and when the childminder (whose home it was) left to pick up her DD (who was in my charges class) she didnt have to take them all, and some would remain behind with the other person (within ratios obviously)
