Universal Credit and Childcare Costs

I’ll try and keep it short and sweet….

21/03/24 - paid nursery £352.50 for two kids childcare for April. (Reported to UC, sent screen shots of bank statement, invoice etc)
Today got our statement through and only £39 has been taken into account for childcare costs.

I didn’t think it would be the full 85% covered but I did think it would be a bit more than £39.

Can anyone explain how they work it out?

(Total take home was £2400 for that period)

thanks!

Can you post an anonymised screenshot of your statement? Are you saying that they've only put £39 as your qualifying childcare costs, or that they've deducted more money than you thought?

If it was your childcare for April, then only 5 days has been used this assessment period, and the rest should be for the next assessment period, shouldn't it, because the rest of April hasn't happened?

Thanks @Lougle Think you just explained it perfectly. £352.50 divided by 30 (days in April) = 11.75. £11.75 x 4 days of my April assessment period = £47. So 85% is £39.
Im guessing the remainder will come through next statement day once the care has happened?

Yes, absolutely. You submit your invoice when you get it, but they will only award the costs that are incurred during the assessment period that you're in. So next month, you'll have £259.68 (£11.75×26×0.85) awarded as childcare, before they make their deductions for income.
