just a word of advice, DL, from the other side of the fence......whenever a prospective employer asks what salary the nanny is looking for, then the words 'It is negotiable' translate in our heads into 'A lot, but I won't tell you how much until you offer me the job'. It is usually far easier all round if you say 'something in the region of X, although salary matters far less to me than being in a job I love, so I am pretty flexible'. Otherwise what you think is a nice positive answer might come across as anything but. It could just be me of course, but I get a real bee under my bonnet when I get that answer (though I am happy to accept it is not as bad as the applications you get sometimes where the opening line reads 'I only work for families who pay at least X a week' ).

anyway, advice to take or leave. hope you have luck in your job hunt.

Hi Squiffy and thanks
I have a min wage that for financial reasons(pensions etc) I cannot go below but I am not asking for "stupid" ammounts-just the average going rate. The reason I put negotiable is because as you say-being happy and enjoying my job are more important.
