Toilet training tips please

My son is nearly 3 and doesn't appear that interested. I bought him training undies but he refuses them 🙄. I know kids meet milestones when they are ready but I'm worried he wont get there unless I help it along a bit more. Any tips?

Does he attend nursery (whether full or part time)? Or have close child relatives/friends that you could commandeer for the purpose?

My DDs got interested in toilets because they saw other children using them so decided they should too. Particularly my youngest because she wanted to do everything her sister was doing.

It felt like it took me ages to get my child potty trained. What I found helped was letting my daughter go completely pants-less - no underwear, whilst at home. Accidents happen, and after a few she realised she doesn't want the floor to get wet. Then introduced normal briefs (the toddler training pants have padding, and she sometimes confused them with nappies).

Also - having a small potty where she could see and access was beneficial too.

top tip: if using this method, I would highly recommend having incontinence mats on all soft surfaces, life sofas.

He'll get there. Hold your nerve and wait. Make sure he follows his dad to the loo, make sure you and everyone he spends time with mentions it when they go. Books, TV- raise his awareness but don't actually do anything. It'll just happen, I promise.
