Leaving childminder

My DCs have been with our childminder since they were appx 1, which is 5 yrs or so. They've also been at nursery/school but always been to her house as well at some point in the week.
They adore her. We've decided for a few reasons that it's no longer working out and so we've given notice and they'll stop going in a few weeks. I've told her but I need to tell my DC and I've got no idea how to broach it! They're going to be upset either way but I need to think of a way to try and soften the blow.
They might still see her during during school hols for the odd day but no more weekly/daily arrangements.
Any tips on managing this?

She was great when they were little but we've found the quality of care has not grown to match their needs as they've got older - she's much better suited to little ones. She also feeds them A LOT of sugary snacks every day. I'm talking maltesers, smarties, cake all in one afternoon. She uses them to get the kids to do what she asks eg put your shoes on and I'll give you a cookie. Their behaviour is awful when I collect them and it's like I'm taking them away from their crack den.

Just say "As you're so big and grown up now you're too old for a childminder, so instead we'll be doing XXX. It'll be great because of YYY".
Just present it as a fun new way of life, it'll be grand.

Thank you - I spoke to DC tonight and it was a non event! I thought they'd be really upset but it just went over their heads
