the tutor said it was a waste of my Tuesday nights being there, as I knew everything, and it wasn't fair on the others that are there because I am answering all the questions!.
What have I been saying for weeks months?

Oh FSG! What a waste of time. Utterly ridiculous, but we've been through this before, haven't we? When are Ofsted/local authority/whoever going to realise that you've done it all and just check your house and let you get on with it!

nannynick · 25/03/2008 21:46

Perhaps the tutor will just sign the relevant paperwork and let you not attend anymore - yeah right, that's not going to happen is it.
Maybe your tutor can use you to help teach the others - isn't that what teachers do, when they have a child in their class who knows all the stuff.

I have written to my MP, and Mr Salmond in Scotland and bascially said "this si stupid, I feel as though I am being discriminated against, etc etc. I then went on to say that in about 16 months I'll be moving back to scotland and will have to got hrough all this again at their end. It is just such a waste of time (and money)
Nick - she gets annoyed with me though and says "can someone else answer this time"

Saltire - that's her problem not yours - I good tutor should be able to deal with it. Ask her what she wants you to do sit there & keep stum, give an intentionally wrong (but plausible) answer or answer correctly?

Then it's her decision

KatyMac · 25/03/2008 21:55

In private of course

saltire · 25/03/2008 21:58

I was annoyed anyway, as we were talking about teh equal opportunites thing,a dn she was aying blah blah, then said "Or they might have special needs such as diabetes".
I was like WTF is she going on about. i said well my DB and 3 cousins have diabetes and they don't ahve special needs. A special diet maybe, but thats it"

The other week she was telling us how we had to provide healthy food and snacks, etc, then said she takes her mindees to burger King 3 days a week for lunch and OFSTED don't mind, because none of them eat fruit or vegetables anyway! and she takes them to Iceland and that other freezer place twice a week to do the weekly shop!
I've never done a weekly shop with mindees - a loaf and milk from the corner shop, or a trip to the Post Offcie to post a letter, but never weekly shopping

Sounds like it should be you running the course.

Have you had a response to either of your letters?

nannynick · 25/03/2008 22:12

Educational shopping trip certainly, the child buying something for themselves for example... or just getting a couple of items needed for that days baking session or mealtime. But doing a Weekly shop - she's mad. Surely her mindees parents would moan, if they knew. BK 3 times a week... also madness. High cal meal in the cafe after swimming I feel is acceptable (children are v.hungry after swimming) but going somewhere like BK is a treat, done very rarely.

Oh poor you! I totally sympathise. I'm lucky I don't have to re-do the ICP / DHC, instead I get to fill in 50 sheets of paper to complete my application. That's all before anyone will come and interview me or start my crb check. I'm still wading my way through. I'm also actively looking for nanny jobs!!

MaureenMLove · 25/03/2008 22:18

I wonder if her Ofsted officer knows she does these things and is spouting it off to potential new minders. That's quite disturbing actually, that she would think its acceptable.
