Tax free childcare and 30 free hours

Hi
I have recently been made redundant and it looks like my earnings for the tax year will go over £100k. I recently confirmed my working status as working on the Government website, as it was correct at the time. How long is the grace period for? I don't want to jump into the first job that comes along so I am guessing I might be in work by April at some point (I hope so). My husband doesn't have a great salary and we could really do with this help of the tax free childcare and the additional 15 hours. How can I bypass this? Will I need to pay into a pension when I get the payment? Will I not get any benefit help until April next year when the next tax year starts? As if looking for a job isn't difficult enough, I now have this huge worry and burden of having to pay thousands extra for childcare when we really cant afford it. Please help.

My son gets 30 hour funding however I'm asked to pay £30 a week doesn't the 30 hour cover the lunch period as I am providing the actual lunch. Is very strange that I'm asked to pay. Shouldn't it be covered by the funding

@HappySAMum your code is for 3 months at a time so it all depends on when you last renewed your code. If you renewed it in Jan, you’ll have till April.

@Kaur12344 you’re better off starting your own thread.

nurseries can choose when the funded hours are used. A lot will work in sessions so 9-12 or 1-4 you’re being asked to pay for the care for that hour inbetween

I think the grace period ends at the end of the term OP. Not sure what you mean about benefit though?

@Kaur12344 your question isn’t related to the OP so it’s best to start your own thread.

If you got made redundant on a salary of over £100k won't your redundancy cover it? are you getting any? I assume they take this as taxable income from 23/24. The next tax year is only a few months away.

They are relatively helpful on the phone if you can take the wait for them to answer.
