Hi everyone,

I’m a bit confused with 30hrs tax free.
my son will 4 in few months time. He started going to his nursery last Sept. 2023 and only goes 3days/week whole day (8AM-6PM). I’m a first time mum with not much knowledge about Childcare benefits etc..

I have been paying £642.50 every month less the tax free.. This week, I realised on the invoice that only 18hrs is funded.
I am eligible for 30hrs and already have the code. But how come they only deduct 18hrs?
Can someone tell me if it’s correct please? Are you paying the correct money or it is too much? Thank you..

The entitlement is for 30 hours term time only ....so over 38 weeks go back and ask them why your not getting the full hours....if they spread funding it's 1140 hours divided by the number of weeks they are open....
But they may offer it for set hours like 9 to 3 if your child doesn't attend for funding times they won't get it all...they should have clearly explained it to you.

Nurseries usually have set times when funded hours are allowed to be used. At my son’s nursery, funded hours are valid 9am–3pm (that’s 6 hours per day). Yours is probably the same.

Yup our nursery used to take our 15 hours term time only and spread it across all 51 weeks which averaged one day per week funded all year (8am-6pm).

Sounds like the nursery offer 6 hours a day x5. This is quite common. If your son went 5 days a week he would get his full entitlement
