to the parent of the child?

as mentioned on another thread i was unhappy with the comment of a CM but, luckily for the cowardly me, the relationship came to an end, at which point I did tell the parent about it.

anyone been in that position?

No, but I've reported a CM to the council. We used to have one living opposite us who regularly took the children out in the car with no car seats or seat belts on.

I felt really bad reporting her, but also couldn't not report her. If they had been my kids I would have been really upset/annoyed.

fair enough,
what happened?

I don't know. I tried to report her anonymously, as she was a neighbour, but I was persuaded to give my name.

She moved away not long after that - hopefully not as a direct result!

I really wanted to. My ex-neighbour. But a) as we were trying to sell our house at the time because b) her partner used to shout "shut your effing baby up" through the walls at night time and c) she was due to give up within a few weeks and d) I was a coward since only I could have supplied the info, I didn't.

can you link to the other thread please?
i reported a nursery to OFSTED after issues ..

looneytune · 19/03/2008 09:54

I'm a childminder and would have no problem reporting someone if I thought the children were at risk! It makes me so hearing some of the stories I do, it gives us good childminders a bad name!!!

crace · 19/03/2008 09:55

I think it depends on the behaviour, but of course if you had concerns you should say something to someone.. but without specifics..?

I think it depends on the situation really...

I hate to say it but sometimes it is easy for parents to ignore the signs for an easy life ....

Saying that, if the CM is doing something unlawful (driving the children around with out seatbelts) I would talk directly to the CM .. speaking to the parents just smacks of tattling...

SlartyBartFast · 19/03/2008 10:28

i had a CM for a while but another CM spent the whole time criticizing her,
it was a really really worrying time, dh picked up but as was suggested couldn't finish work early to "catch her out".
dc went to a nursery in the end.

not criticizing all CMs of course.

it is a tough call , isn;t it? i thikn i would probably want to know and look for anotehr cm...

Booh · 19/03/2008 13:34

Have I got this right, do you know the parents of one of the children in her care?As I would chat to the parents about it.

CM's like that give us all a really bad name, ok we all have bad days, but if anyone met me out working while I was having a bad day, you wouldn't know it!

It is a hard call I agree
