Does anyone know whether people earning over 100k will be eligible for the 30 hours free childcare after the changes the government are proposing from September next year?

Very unlikely. And it's not free hours it's funded hours. Massive difference to settings!

I reckon means tested if Labour. Not sure if Tory but I reckon it’ll be a Labour government

I think they'll stick with current rules so no it won't be. Nor should it be. Also it isn't 'free' hours.

I think there’s going to be a large number of people who think this will save them a fortune, but if it does actually come in (and Labour wouldn’t have to continue any Tory promises if they are unworkable) then there simply aren’t enough childcare places for it to happen. Several of the local nurseries to me have already said they won’t be accepting any more funded hours-they don’t need to, their waiting lists are huge of people wanting childcare and they are prepared to pay for it.

From my understanding, no

This chart looks like it's the same eligibility criteria as for the 30 hours.

I don’t know @howshouldibehave

I always see this claim on here but it’s area dependent maybe.

Its the same locally to us as well. And childminders are going to be totally screwed if they accept the new funded hours. They can't legally take anymore children (maximum of 3 with 1 of those being under 12 months) and when they funding comes in it will mean a massive loss in income if they don't charge a consumable/sustainability fee to parents. It has need to be funded properly for years, or as I have been saying for years give the parents the equivalent money in their tax free childcare account (not be able to withdraw it) quarterly and let them pay the childcare fees out of that with the parents paying the difference.
