Tonsillectomy needed

Hello, My little one needs a tonsillectomy but NHS doctors seem very uninterested. We did get an ENT referral as she has sleep apnea episodes and generally bad quality sleep, but we we apparently classified as routine and have thus been now waiting a year to even see the ENT and speak to them. how can i speed things up to help her? she's 9 and although she sleeps 10/11 hours she's mostly exhausted. any advice from parents who went through similar experiences? her tonsills are massive, an ENT in Poland said that on a size scale of 5 / they are 4.

Can you afford to go privately? A lot of places will offer payment plans, worth discussing with your GP.
My DD had hers out on the NHS at 3 due to horrendous sleep apnoea, we were classed as urgent and still waited 3months, this was pre covid and wait times have since rocketed.
She needed her adenoids out again and waited 18months for that, had it done in 2023.
If she's been referred to ENT then keep pestering , ring and ask to go on any cancellation list.

The NHs are horrendous with this. If you can get hold of the money, get it done privately asap.

I've had it done privately. Do either of you have a workplace scheme you can buy into for subsidised medical insurance? Might be worth buying it for the coming year just for this one thing.

Hello, having the same problem. Did you find a solution?

@Sole78 You've posted in childcare OP - ask to move to children's health.
