When does a Mother's Help become a Nanny?! Pay?

We hired a fantastic Mother's Help a year ago and she's due a pay rise.

She was unqualified but had some babysitting/ au pair experience before we hired her. Her role has changed over the year and she's gained more experience and got her registration for childcare vouchers.

I tend to leave her to it mostly. I do all the food in advance and she takes the 2 kids to the park/ plays/ paints etc. She doesn't do any laundry or cleaning anymore.

We currently pay £9 per hour gross (we live in London) for one day a week. What do other (particularly London) Nannies think is a fair gross hourly rate? I kind of think she was overpaid for a Mother's Help, but underpaid for a Nanny? Many thanks

As a London nanny, I think your mothers help has a pretty good deal at £9ph gross. A qualified sole charge nanny would usually expect around £8-£10 ph net round here and a mothers help with no qualifications and some previous experience normally £6-£8 ph net. So you are paying pretty much in line with the norm for here.

Especially if she doesn't have to cook, clean or do laundry on her day I think she probably knows she is getting a dood deal and a rise in line with inflation should be perfectly adequate
