The way I see it dd1 (age 8) is lucky enough to have my and her sister around and she gets to play with mindees every now and again if i havent got many or any mindees I allow her a friend to come to tea, on monday i had an unexpected few hours off so I let her have 2 friends in the garden to play now she is nagging me everyday. She thinks if i didn't cm she would be allowed her friends round all the time i've explained this isn't the case as I would have to be out working instead but she doesn't listen, apparently I'm a nasty mum and I don't let her have a life

No time to post more but what shall I do?

Hi LoveMyGirls

Children have the amazing ability to make you feel guilty even when you are doing them a favour!!!

The only thing i can suggest is that you have a talk with her (bedtime is a good time for this)and explain that if you didn't work there would be no treats, days out, extra toys (this swung it for me!!)and that as much as you would love to spend time with her and her sister without the mindees, it just isn't possible

My children 'earn' the priviledge of having friends over by sorting laundry, helping with the mindees, feeding and cleaning out the guinea pigs, loading the dishwasher etc and it has definately made them more aware of what my time is taken up with and therefore the reason why friend can't come over every day

I do wish you luck with this as our job is hard enough without this added guilt from our own kids
