My new nanny...

is fab!

When I come home the house is.... get this.... clean! Oh joy. I could kiss her. (but I won't)

When I get home she goes out of her way to give me a verbal report on the status of runny nappies and DD's resistance to go to ballet (she's fine when she is there but she declares she hates it before going in). This verbal update is only necessary because the nanny diary vanished on old nanny's departure (ho hum). New one has been ordered but has not yet arrived.

She is lovely, and DD has already bonded with her.

DD has not mentioned old nanny and doesn't seem at all bothered that she has left.

but its hardly the easiest job in the world sometimes is it??

don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore my career and would not change it for the world but you make it sound like nannying is a walk in the park lol.
it can have its totally fun filled and brilliant days, where you can sit and marvel at your charges learning new and lovely things but then there are rotten days too... wouldn't change it for the world thou I'd like to point out!!

Oh goodness, yes - I'd never breeze off assuming it was my right to go to the gym while being paid to be a nanny. Plus, I'd only go if I knew 100% I wouldn't have any duties outstanding at the end of the day.

I know what you mean, missie, I've had a couple of "ooh er" days during half term but now I will have to be extra prepped for easter (4 weeks of it due to different holidays) hmmmmm!! Plus the older two are great at winding each other up, and I'm fairly new at this so learning to ignore the "naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnneeeeeeeeeeeeeeee........ he said, he did......" whines (no, they don't call me "nanny")

I think driving lessons would be a better use of that time, tbh...

I think creche vouchers are a really lovely idea, and I'm sure she will appreciate them.

I do think though you should mention that you are only happy x number of times a week for x time and only that creche. It would be easy for her to get the wrong idea and think you are happy for your DS to be left in eg Ikea creche or whatever.

Just a thought.

What's a nanny diary? Something extra to just a notebook if it needs ordering?

am so glad this thread was from you ele - am so to hear things things are working out.

Whenever my APs go the extra mile (beyond their job description) I give them a little a cash bonus at the end of the week. But current AP doesn't know about this and has yet to prove herself (maybe I should tell her!)
