Salary advice for autistic child

I am due to speak to a family local to me who have a 4 year old girl.
She is very autistic and needs constant supervision and management.

They want a few hours care for her each week, while they can do things with their NT son and maybe also some overnight care while they sleep as their daughter barely sleeps.

I am very experienced doing ad-hoc care for families, but the salary is often set by the agency I work for and isn’t flexible.

This is not an agency job.

What would you be willing to pay for this service per hour? I’m thinking maybe around £15-£18 per hour? It would be approx 3 hours at a time.

As a 1:1 carer in Surrey, I get £16 per hour.

Be aware that if they are using funding from social services, the funding may not pay what you would like to earn.

In some local authorities carers are employed, in other self employed. So £16 per hour would be gross rate, not take home.

Our self employed PA gets £14.22 an hour (as per the direct payments we get from the council). This is in the north west of England.

Thanks, these are useful answers. Much appreciated. I’m Coventry way.

In my area, a self-employed PA would charge £15 ph.
Good luck with the job, it can be very rewarding.

Our local autism charity who supplies carers/PA's have a starting rate of just under £27ph.
