Hi all. Some of you have probably read previous posts about a mindee I took on about a month ago now.

I am slowly making progress and the parents are really coming round to seeing my way. But do you know if there is any support available to me as his childminder for his development issues?? I sometimes just feel like I need someone there to tell me I'm doing this right, or I could go about it another way!

Have you contacted your Early Years team?

Excuse my old brain, but was this the child who has learning difficulties?

KatyMac · 05/03/2008 13:12

Or your (or his) HV?

This is the child who cannot talk/eat on his own/play.

Can I go and see the HV with him? Will they be able to offer advice?

I wouldn't take him without parental permission - but you could ask for advise - maybe check with the parent first

I think there's no reason why you can't talk to your own HV about it and explain your situation. I'm sure she'll be able to point you in the right direction of support.

Are the parents getting the right support now? Might be worth asking them. Explain that since you will be one of the primary carers, you ought to be and would like to be involved with any thing that might effect your relationship with him.
