Hi this has probably been done before so sorry in advance.
I have looked on the NCMA website which is quite helpful, with links to distance learning courses etc. BUT I am terrified to discover each module of the 5 you have to do costs 200 quid, eeek! Are there any grants or anything that I can apply for?
Any more pointers in the right direction/advice/ideas very welcome
TIA

Not sure which courses you're looking at but I suspect its the DHC course. You don't HAVE to do the full 5 units. The compulsory element is the ICP (Introduction to Childcare Practice) but at the moment its still optional whether you undertake the rest of the course.

There are start-up grants to help set you up but it depends where you leave as to how much is available.

The best thing to do is to go on a pre-registration meeting. Contact your local CIS www.childcarelink.gov.uk and they should be able to give you details of meetings in your area. At the meeting you should be able to find out exactly what financial help is available in your area and exactly whats involved in the registration process.

Let us know how you get on!
