Jobs to fit in with school drop off and pick up?

I work in an office job and after being let down with childcare options I am struggling. It's got me thinking of other job opportunities.

If you don't mind sharing, what sort of jobs do you do to work around school times?

Finding a solution to pick up and drop off has surely got to be better than losing the holidays- I wouldn’t pack that job in.

@OnlyFoolsnMothers this is what most people are saying to me but it's so hard we I have nobody to pick up my girls. I go back to work next week (Scottish school) so I will have to ask questions and see if things can be more flexible.

Was just curious what others do to fit in work and childcare.

Is it possible to negotiate changing your hours ?

It might not be possible if you work full time - but I just worked my hours across all 5 days so I could arrive late and leave early.

This was several years ago.

It's hard work, but I do online shopping in a supermarket. 4am-8am, so I am, for all intents and purposes, a SAHM.
I found an admin job with the council this week that looked promising with the hours, but it paid less than Sainsburys, for more hours, and I'd need school holiday help.
So for now, I go to bed at 8pm and dream of the day when I can have my pick of jobs!

Personally wfh and a part time working husband. School holidays are hard and expensive to fill. I would say your husband as well as you need to ask for flexibility- shouldn’t always be the woman

Cardiographer. You spend your days recording ECGs and I don't think I worked in a department where any were full time.

Dinner lady - as has already been said.

I had my oven professionally cleaned this week, the guy who did it used to be a prison officer and did the training and started working as a second job.

He seems to be doing really well as I had to book him 6 weeks in advance. You would be self employed and could pick your hours. It's not something people have done weekly so you could work term rtime only.

I work in the civil service and have just negotiated changing my hours to school hours only.

Public sector jobs often offer flexible working.
I'm lucky and work from home and can start at 6/7am and my husband does the run to school but I finish at 2.30 so I can pick up.
But if I need to do the school run I can just pop out as long as I make up the hours somewhere.
