Childcare in Caversham… recommendations?

Hi,

We’re currently negotiating so close to buying in Caversham Heights (hopefully!).

Does anyone have any childcare recommendations for my son who will be 1? Ideally a nursery or a childminder who also works during term time (nurseries seem v expensive vs where we are now). Not a nanny as would prefer a group setting and probably can’t afford it tbh. I have enquired with Monkey Moos and Banana Moon.

Also, strange question, but if a single childminder looks after a few children (including, say, a baby) how on earth do they get them all in and out the car etc while they do the pick ups and drops at the same time?! Or do they leave them in the car and the child comes to/leaves them?! As a parent of one I have no idea of the logistics and how this could be done safely?!

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Caversham heights v expensive. Look at nursery's further out I'd say. Will you earn enough to pay for it ? The green psrk nursery is definitely good but you can't consider crossing the river at peak traffic times In Reading.

Not entirely understanding your logistics question but do you mean at school? They use a buggy, hold hands etc and walk the children in to school. They won't leave them alone in the car.

What Katey said!
I remember Ofsted asking me this question during my pre-registration visit over 20 years ago! Grin

We knew, even then, not to leave them in the car and Ofsted were most emphatic about that.
Not all the children will be babes in arms and mine are all taught to hold onto the wall, the door, the buggy etc. or to hold hands while I get them in or out.
