Childminders - How do you feel about your mindees having cloth nappies?

I'm currently looking for a childminder for my DD who will be 10 months when she goes into childcare.

I'm going to meet one lady who sounds lovely and has come highly recommended from another CM who I know well, when I spoke to the potential CM I asked how she would feel about using cloth nappies (Bumgenius) and she sounded suprised I was using them, but said as I was employing her she would go along with it.

So my questions are ...

Do other CM have mindees with cloth nappies?
How do you find using them?
Are they a pain in the ??? for you as they need changing more often?
Should I just send her with sposies on CM days?

I'm willing to send her with sposies, but this kind of defeats the object of having cloth nappies, it would cost me more money as she will be going to the CM at least 3 days a week and it also go's against my eco ideas?

Ooooh, what do I do, help me please? I really don't want to make things difficult for my childminder?

Yes
easy
no but I do change more often anyway (I have parents who think 2 nappies for a 10 hr day is acceptable - I go with 4 ish)
No

I love them, I adore them, I need them

Make it easy for her

I used to get a stack of nappies folded and ready to use - lovely & a large waterproof bag to shove them in after

No a childminder, but a nanny... but know some childminders

Just a minor correction if may first, you aren't employing a childminder. A childminder runs their own business, you are a customer. So you will need to go along a bit with what the childminder wants... but the childminder will also go along a bit with what you want... Ofsted call it, Standard 12 - Working in partnership with parents and carers.

As a nanny, I care for a child in a cloth nappy. A CM friend of mine cares for a child in a cloth nappy. So yes, some childminders will entertain such things.

They are not a problem, but don't expect the CM to wash them. They will generally be bagged, and given to you at the end of each day, for you to deal with.
As a nanny (an employee), I wash them!

I don't find they need changing more often, though guess it depends on the individual child's output rate.

HAve used 2 childminders, both willing to use cloth.
With CM 1 it was 2 days a week and totally cloth ( with 1 emergency dizzy in bottom of bag) I only used one type of nappy with her and always sent them ready folded and stuffed and paper lined. With a waterproof tote bag for dirties and a spare wrap. They didn't go out every day ( had big garden) and it all seemed to work fine.

However CM2 tended to pop him in a dizzy some days if she wanted to keep her bag a bit lighter -Shes goes out with kids everyday to give boys a run around and with 3 kids in nappies I could see why. so he is in dizzys the 1 day a week hes with her unless we have run out in which case he goes in cloth and she deals with it.

sorry, read that wrong... your CM to be said that you were employing her. Though you still are a customer, not an employer (you don't want to be dealing with PAYE and all that )

I think these days more CM's are getting requests from parents who use cloth nappies, so are adapting to cater for that need. Some indeed may go a step further, and have all their mindees in cloth, removing dizzys (like that term) from those who turn up in them, replacing dizzy at end of day, so cloth stays at CM's.
