Private nursery

My daughter currently attends a private day nursery. Through the grape vine I have heard that there is a girl well lady with an alcohol problem (Alcoholic) she has been to rehab (again heard through the grape vine) and still relapsing. My concern is she is still allowed to be in contact with children within the setting. I’m conflicted on what to do although she doesn’t appear drunk when I collect my daughter who’s to say she doesn’t mask it well. Other parents have began talking about it and I’m beginning to become worried for my daughters safety. I would never leave her with an alcoholic on my watch so how are the nursery getting away with it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

So, you’ve heard all this through the ‘grape vine’. You don’t even know if it’s true! Maybe have a chat with the manager if you’re concerned there’s any truth to the rumours

If you collect your daughter from her then you should be able to smell alcohol on her breath or around her body e.g. in her sweat.

What is more likely to have happened is that one parent who doesn't drink/drinks little saw the nursery worker on a bender or two.

I live next to a private nursery and opposite a school nursery linked to a primary school.

I have seen several of the private nursery workers smoking in the area and a few out drinking. About 3 of my neighbours work in the primary school including the nursery and they go out drinking.

The grapevine hmmm always a reliable source...not. If anyone has valid concerns they should address it with management including how they know it's true.

Don’t be so bloody ridiculous!

if you don’t trust the nursery and its staff to keep your child safe, then take her out.
