Childcare situation

Hi everyone,

What would you all consider the bare minimum co parenting regarding childcare ?

My ex fiancé has our son 2 days a week and one day on the weekend. Sometimes more depending on when I need an extra hand. He pays his child maintenance monthly.

Am I alone for thinking this is the bare minimum, he disagrees and thinks it's easy for me to say because I don't work and he works full time.

Thanks

Honestly, I think that’s pretty good. It’s more than a lot of people in a similar situation and you do say that sometimes he has your son more and if you need an extra hand

MrsSamR · 01/08/2023 11:11

Sounds fine to me too. Maybe get a job and pay for childcare and then you'll feel less resentful that it falls on you.

Coffeaddict · 01/08/2023 11:14

So you don't work at all? How are you supporting yourself?

But he works full time and the 2 days he doesn't work he has his child? this means you get 2 days completely to yourself

Yeah YABU

If he has your son 3 days a week, sometimes more, and is still paying maintenence, I'd say he's doing his fair share.

Whinge · 01/08/2023 11:26

So he has his child 3 days a week, and sometime more that that, as well as working full time and paying child maintenance. He's doing far more than the bare minimum, and I think it's really unkind to paint him as someone not pulling his weight.

I don’t think 3/7 plus extras is the bare minimum. The bare minimum would be adhoc every now and again (which isn’t exactly unheard of!).

Out of curiosity, what split do you think would be equal?

People will ask why aren't you working ?

Esp if you have 3 days of no children

Ans yes seems fair that he has 3 days and pays you money

HunterHearstHelmsley · 01/08/2023 19:09

Is he having him overnight?

Why are you so over invested in the thread and attacking every other viewpoint? And also making up stories to justify your reaches of imagination? Confused 4/14 posts so far on this thread are yours.

This.

I mean, have I misread this ?
He has your dc at least 3 days a week - but sometimes more. So, virtually 50% of the time and pays you child maintenance ?

Yet you think that is "the bare minimum" Confused
