CM CLUB Do you think this is fair?

Hi I have now been a cm for 18 months and haven't changed my prices in that time. Currently I am £3 hour with all food included and a £10 flat rate for afterschoolies.
Was thinking of raising my rate to £3.30 an hour and keeping the £10 rate for afterschoolies does this sound fair?
TIA

Sounds fair to me too. I put my prices up by 15p an hour last yr, it was the first time I had increased them for 3 yrs so subsequently I'm a lot cheaper than other minders in my area , I feel that I'm always going to be playing catch up as I would have to raise my hourly rate by a staggering 75p per hour- which I think many of my parents wouldn't be happy with. The moral of this is to make sure that you put up your fee's once a yr.

What do other childminders in your area charge?
How many hours a week to your mindees come?

I recently let all of my mindees parents know that I intend to put my prices up in April by 20p per hour except my full timer whose fee I will be putting up by 10p per hour (45 hours by 20p per hour would have increased her fees by £36 per month which I felt would be too much).
I last put my fees up in April 2006 so felt my rise was justified as food, petrol, heating and lighting etc has all gone up in this time.
However my rise in fees has only brought my into line with other childminders in this area which is £3.

A consideration is that if you put your fees up to above what other childminders charge you may not fill all of your places. Some newer childminders in my area charge £3.50 per hour but are finding it very difficult to fill their places whereas I am full and already have my places for Sept filled for when I lose some to school. If the increase brings you into line with others in your area however I don't see a problem.

£3.30 an hour will bring me in line with the other cm in my area and will still be cheaper than some. I am currently full but do have a couple of spaces available from Sept so will consider what you said about filling spaces as don't want to be left short. Thanks

My after-schoolers also pay £10 flat rate, but with discount for siblings. I kept my rate the same for 3 years as I felt awkward asking for more, but one full-timer left and I was only left with the after-schoolers so when the next full-tmer started I increased my hourly rate.
£3.30 sounds fine
