Nursery have ripped me off?

Hi

my baby’s first week at nursery. He is planning to do 3 full days per week. However this week because he is settling in, the first day I stayed with him for half an hour then both went home. Second & third day I left him for 3 hours then collected him. They have charged me 3 full days on the invoice for this week 9am-5pm rate despite him barely being there.
Am I being unreasonable to bring this up and ask for the price to be reduced for this week? i.e. I don’t think I should be charged for day 1 as I never left him. And for the other 2 days I should perhaps be charged a half-day rate.
what do you all think?

We spoke with one nursery and did one settling in session where I stayed the whole time. They wanted me to do 6 sessions increasing with time away up to half a day. I would have to pay a full days rate for each one. I refused to pay and found a nursery that didn't charge me for settling in.

At ours we paid for the slot. It didn’t matter if your child was in attendance for the day at all, you had to pay. They can’t exactly fill your spot with another child just because your child left earlier than close.

Settling sessions are generally free, even if charging it should be hourly rate especially as they wouldn't let him stay longer.

This. I would definitely question it OP. Must be an admin error.

I’m surprised you don’t have a contract! I would have thought for insurance / legal purposes you’d need a contract. I do contracts for all my pate ta. Deposit payments, outline of contract hours, fees outlined clearly and termination period etc.
hHve you not had one?

That's a point. You must have paid a deposit if he's started?
