Totally confused with CM issues & staggered start to primary? Advice pls

We work some distance from home and will need a CM to drop and pick up dc from school 3 days a week when I'm at work when ds starts in Sept, probably being with cm from about 7.30 in the morning. I've had a look and there are a few CMs who do start this early.

However, I recently found out primary do a staggered start, where dc will do either mornings or afternoons for half a term.

What is the likelihood of finding a cm who'll also have him for half a day as surely he'll then count as one of their under 5s but only for half a term?

I also have a dd who is currently at nursery who is very happy there. But thinking she would be better at the cm as then she'll get to see her brother and it'll be easier having them in one place. She would also benefit from 1-2-1 attention.

What do you think, any advice?

The 'alternative'is ds doesn't start school properly in September but stays in nursery on the days I work and only attend school for that first half term on the 2 days I'm at home but no idea how the school would feel about that & not best for ds?

As long as you pay for the full day most childminders will do it for just one term (plus holidays at either end?)

The issue c/mers often have is half day for your child vs full pay for a younger one

Yes, I would expect to pay for the whole day during that odd settling in period at primary as it's not as if the CM could slot in anther child!

You would expect me to pay for full days the whole term? (Not being arsey, just getting it clear) and the summer, xmas holidays too?

Only in the holidays if you wanted care eg I might do a short term contract for your son between September & December so you would pay for half term - depends when he leaves nursery (iyswim)

Then start a new contract from Jan when he goes full-time for before & after school?

Depends if you need holiday care or not
