Nanny Net to Gross hourly rate

Hi - I have found a part time nanny that wants £13 per hour net and I can’t work out how to calculate the hourly gross rate for the contact . She will do 30 hours per week (Mon to Wednesday). All the calculators do a weekly or monthly calculation and I’m getting in a muddle with it as we will pay her monthly but I need the gross hourly rate for the contract . Any advice welcome .

Also she starts after Easter and I wondered if I have to pay her for the 3 bank holidays in May as she is part- time and doing a one month trial ?

Will she have another job?
What's her tax code?
Does she have any deductions like student loan payments?

Bank holidays can be included in her holiday entitlement, or you can ask her to work them and give her time off another time. She will be entitled to a minimum of 16.8 days holiday - you should probably round up to 17 days.

There are payroll providers who can run a net pay payroll. For you, that is like writing a blank cheque, so I wouldn't do it. I would set a gross hourly rate.

You could decide on a gross rate by saying that as they work 3 days per week, that uses 3/5ths of personal tax allowance. So (1257/5)*3=754.2 You could round that up or down. Let's say it was 754.
You could then use a PAYE calculator to get a rough figure for that. Gross pay per hour may come out around £17.
So you agree whatever gross rate you decide, and your nanny gets whatever the net pay turns out to be, each time the payslip is calculated.

Talk to a nanny payroll provider. Do not agree a net wage, else you may be paying back their student loan!

Bank holidays do not have to be days off. You may want them to work on bank holidays.
If you do not want them to work, then bank holidays come out of annual leave.

Agree a Gross and use a pay roll company.

Thanks everyone . For part time 3 days per week does the 18 days annual leave include or exclude bank holidays ?

Its 17 days minimum and it can include bank holidays if you want. Or you can ask her to work bank holidays and give 17 days holiday on other days.

Re holiday days bank holidays were included in mine. My employer chose half of the days and I chose the other half. I was entitled to 12 days, 6 were bank holidays so we then chose 3 each.

I had a Mon/Tues part time nanny and if I'd have given her the minimum legal AL (5.6 weeks including BH), she wouldn't have had 4 clear weeks after taking off the BH. So I did it as '4 weeks plus any BH that fall on working days' which is fine as it's more than the legal minimum. It's different if they don't work on a Monday as most BSs are Mondays
