Does husbands bonus count in 'Adjusted net income'

Hi,

I'm trying to work out my husband's adjusted net income. My husband earns around £80,000 and also receives an annual bonus- this is not guaranteed and can vary greatly. Do I include this in his adjusted net income as we don't rely on it, couldn't use it on our mortgage application etc.

Looking at childcare and hoping we might qualify for something!

TIA

Yes, I believe so.
But also it can be used in a mortgage application in my experience - HSBC required at least two years of it being paid and took the average as the amount for the mortgage application (but I think the multiplier on it was less than on the fixed salary).

Yes, it counts for childcare earnings. Unless you put so much in a pension it brings you back below the threshold - subject to changes today!

We could use our bonuses in our mortgage application. They will count for childcare, but you could pay more into your pension to offset.

Check HMRC's website...there's a very specific list of items for this term IIRC. I've had to calculate it myself and from top of my head it includes total income Inc bonus, employer pension contributions, benefits in kind, non-ISA dividend and interest receipts, stuff like that. HMRC website will have an up to date list.

Yes, it does include bonuses

Yes.. my employer (and a lot of others I believe) let you elect to put anything over X into your pension to keep you below 100k.

I didn't do this last year (bonus amount was unexpected and just tipped me over) and they stopped the allowance pretty much straight away. For this tax year I phoned and said I would do the pension thing this time round if it happened again and they reinstated it.
