How much has your nursery bill gone up?

We've just had a letter through to advise us to expect a 'significant' increase in fees next month and we'll be advised of our new fee in the next couple of weeks.

In the letter they mentioned staff's 9.7% increase in national living wage, gas and electric increases, and food inflation

My guess is it'll go up 20% 😬

How much have yours gone up?

DSs nursery is a all year round one so not attached to a school etc.

12%

Timide · 09/03/2023 15:39

From 59.40 to 65.25 per h. It is a lot for us as our DC goes for a whole week. Childcare has always been expensive and now even more. We are not in London.

Patty101 · 09/03/2023 15:40

Also 12%

LittleBlueBrioTrain · 09/03/2023 15:41

Less than 5%. 20p an hour I think

9.8% yours has gone up.

Thanks everyone so far.

Around 4.5%, it was expensive already though at £75 per day.

specialkallday · 09/03/2023 15:44

My guess is they'll have to put the tax free childcare up by 12%odd as well?

Currently £500 every 3 months so should be more like £560?

Our bill has gone up 27%, partly a direct increase of 7% and partly because the nursery has decided to start limiting the number of free hours we can claim per day (LO is entitled to 30 free hours) so we have lost a chunk of that element. I don't blame them because I know it doesn't cover their costs, but it's horrific for me.

kikisparks · 09/03/2023 15:47

Up from £62.80 to £67.80 per day so a 9%ish rise.

FTM2022SS · 09/03/2023 15:47

5% from £45 to £48!

Very much doubt that will happen.

From £50 per day last April to £63.25 this year.

lulalulalula · 09/03/2023 16:00

Depending on the age of the child, price increase vs previous year is between 9% and 11%.

mummyh2016 · 09/03/2023 16:01

Just over 9% from £57.50 a day to £62.95. DD goes 2 days a week so it's an extra £50 a month. I get why they've got to do it but at the same time unless you're on NMW it's unlikely wages have increased at the same rate - mine certainly haven't!

belladonna22 · 09/03/2023 16:04

Ours has gone up 10.7% to £103 per day 😬 this is in London, of course. And my second is also due to start nursery in May!

MrsSamR · 09/03/2023 16:04

Ours went up 20% before Christmas and we've just been notified it is going up another 5% in April! Will be crippling for us as we have another child starting in October!

Teafor1please · 09/03/2023 16:05

Ours has gone up from £63 to £70 a day. I mean I was just about breaking even before, but now we are earning less than we are paying out.

PanettoneMoly · 09/03/2023 16:14

8% increase in January to £1,820 a month. DD is a ‘one and done’ thankfully as we couldn’t afford two in nursery at the same time - even with the sibling discount we’d be paying out nearly £3,500 a month which is basically a £60K salary.

roseopose · 09/03/2023 16:23

Ours went up from 41 a full day to 45 in February.

Ha ha

We've just been told our new funding rate, I gone up 5%, doesn't even touch the sides of the extra expenses to settings.

Overthebloodymoon · 09/03/2023 16:38

Childcare: Full-time nursery for under-twos nearly £15k a year, says report www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-64865602

jannier · 09/03/2023 22:14

And there are childminders debating if it's fair to ask for a 1%rise for the first time in 3years on their FB pages.

WorryMcGee · 09/03/2023 22:35

£92.75 a day to £99.95 a day. I want the wonderful staff to be paid fairly and I understand why they’ve had to put the fees up but my god it’s crippling ☹️
