Hi all,

my Baby girl is 11 months and everyone is encouraging I send her to nursery before my next baby arrives in July as I will get some rest bite and she will get stimulation and be a little independent from me too.

i am so concerned she will pick up germs and bring home and impact new born,

her grandparents are very hands on to help

should I send or wait until newborn is about 3 months?

not sure xxxx

Wait. If you have family help use that

If you sent now then they'd have had 4/5 months of getting illnesses and built up an immune system so then less likely to bring something home. Mine was 'ill' every other week for the first 3/4 months but then was only ill every few months. Even when baby is 3 months you wouldn't want your toddler bringing home a sickness bug so I personally would send now so they get it out the way and boost their immune system.

You might be grateful of it come July as the new babies arrival may coincide with the start of the walking/busy curious phase.

Firstly speak to the local nursery's as they often have 6 month waiting lists or availability slots only in September when the eldest move up to preschool or school.

If you know this then you might find it's not a simple decision if some planning ahead is needed.

Otherwise, it's entirely your and your dh's choice as to how you will manage with a 16 month old and a new born. The illnesses will happen at some stage, I'd be more concerned about changing routines, and managing two different routine schedules, so do whatever will make life easier for you.
