My little boy started in the childminder in 2 months ago when I went back to work, the problem is his contract is term time. I can’t get the time off that the childminder is closed or has less children for the term?

I thought that she was only off for certain weeks of the which was fine a few weeks per year was ok to sort something, but not every term.

I have a local nursery with space for him but feel
so bad for pulling out of the childminder in such a short time, she’s been so accommodating and I don’t know why I feel so guilty lol. what’s the best way to go about this with the cm?

Do you mean the childminder is always closed for every school holiday or is she closed for a few weeks over course of the year? I would have thought if it’s a term time only contract it would be stated as such on your contract?

I'm sure she'll fill the space again. If it's not working for you of course you need to change him.

It’s fine. It sounds like a term time contract was never going to work for you. Just write her a lovely reference and give your required notice and tell her you have realised you need an all year contract.

Why did you accept a term time only place if you need full year care?
