Does a nanny get more money for looking after two children rather than one?

Just trying to work out the finances for when I return to work - does a nanny get the same salary or a higher one when she has two charges rather than one. If higher - what is the percentage rise on the salary for looking after one child?

No it should be the same salary.

Not usually any higher. A nanny will care for as many children as there are in the household. However, if you have say 5 children, then you may feel they deserve more money than if they were just caring for one child.

However a nanny looking for work, when faced with choosing between two jobs paying the same amount, may choose to work for the family with less children. So in a market where there are lots of jobs on offer, it can make a difference. However not all nannies will choose a job based on this factor, as many nannies know looking after 1 child can be hard work, where as 2 children will often entertain each other at least some of the time.

No. But you might have to appreciate that looking after two children leaves her with less time for domestic chores (like preparing homemade baby foo ala Annabel Carmel). But the salary would stay the same if the hours stay the same.
