30 hours funded childcare

DD is 2, soon to be 3. She goes to CM 3 days a week, CM is amazing and DD is very happy there. Looking on the government website it seems she will be entitled to 30 hours funded care but reading elsewhere different CM have different agreements with the funding, obviously I will ask her about it and what we will lbe entitled to, but how does the funding work? Do we apply online and can the CM say she doesn't accept funded hours? Will the CM lose money or will she make it up another way? Is the finding just for term time and for set hours in the day? And how soon do you need to apply? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Every setting is different. Some only accept it for term time, some will spread it across the year (my children’s nursery spread it across 51 weeks so it was 22 hours a week)

Does every setting how to accept the funded hours?

Not every setting has to accept funding. Many don't or have limitations on when it can be claimed. You should be able to see on your local family information service (LA) and search your childminder to see if they are registered to accept funding. It is term time only so 38 weeks per year. Some will stretch for you and use it all year..many settings will charge for "lunch" , consumables and out of school hour care.

-you apply on the gov website and get a code to give to the childminder. She will use this to claim funding
-she can refuse you some or all of the hours (although I think it would be unusual to not allow you to claim any at all)
-if she is losing money she will likely ask you to pay "expenses" to cover sundries such as food, nappies. I pay £1 per hour for this.
-it's just for term time, the government does not cover holidays
-hours are not set but your cm can limit the number of hours she allows you to claim per day

I used to be a Cm..
I did term time only, some places stretch hours. I didn't as it was more paperwork and i did enough.

You need to apply..it is the term after 3rd birthday.
Some cm's may do specific sessions. I just knocked the 30 hours off the bill.

Just looked online and it says she does accept the funded hours. DD takes a packed lunch and I provide nappies, CM provides snacks. If I'm honest ill be happy with any money off the bill.

You apply on the childcare choices website for a code, a couple of months before their term starts. Give the CM the code and she does the rest.
Just be mindful that the government who like to boast about all this free education, actually give the provider about 2 quid an hour less than their usual fee (area dependent).
