Someone has probably already asked this but can't see a thread!

Anyone know how to make pancakes???

Mindee's want them after school and don't want to go for easy 'shake a bottle' option from the shop.

Flour and water and 1 egg...I usually do 1 cup flour and 3/4 cup water and then mix very well. It should result in a runny but semi-thick mixture.

Here is another one: Basic Pancake Recipe (Makes about 12 small pancakes )

Ingredients:

100g white plain flour
1 egg
150ml milk
150ml water
1 teaspoon olive oil (plus more for greasing the pan)

Method:

Sift the flour into a basin, make a well in the centre and break in the egg.
Add a little milk and stir gently.

Add the rest of the milk slowly and stir until smooth.

Stir in the water and oil and beat for one minute.

(If you have an electric whisk bung all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk until you have a smooth batter)

Heat a drop of oil in an omelette pan. When the pan is really hot, pour in about 3 tablespoons of batter.

Cook for just under a minute - using a spatula to keep an eye on how it's cooking.

Now the fun bit ... FLIP IT - or if you find you're dropping too many, turn it over with the spatula.

Cook the other side for 15 seconds.

I add another egg to the mix nowadays. It gives a slightly richer flavour.

Does anyone have an egg free pancake recipe as I am sure all mindees will want them but DS is allergic to eggs and I have lost my egg free recipe.

Here is a thread off MN www.mumsnet.com/Talk/29/457900

thanks for that - a couple of ideas to try. I have tried the mixes from the shop DS didn't like them.

I use my Magimix recipe: 4oz flour, 2 eggs, pinch of salt,1/2 pt milk, bung it in food processor and bingo - lovely fluffy batter. I stick it in fridge for a while too.

I'm no good at tossing them, hubby is brill at that Older two ds and dd call him the tosser!

I took some pics of the boys making them today and will put them in the scrap book for portfolio evidence.

Mum2Luke, the tosser

you MUST use self raising flour or else a small amount of baking powder

then don't add salt

this will mean that a. the pancakes are nice and fluffy and b. bubbles will form. When the bubbles form, the underside is done (only bother with this on the first side)

Also use a heavy pan with shallow sides, if you have one-there is no point to those Teflon lightweight things...

Thanks everyone! My pancakes were a success!

Even enjoyed a couple myself!
