Fee increase -what's fair?

I'm a cm and I'm wondering about what would be a fair amount to increase my fees by. The contract allows me to increase fees with six weeks notice but I don't usually do it mid contract, only for new people.
The cost of keeping the house warm and the children well fed had increased massively, along with transport and groups/outings costs so I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and do it.
Trouble is I know everyone is in the same position and I don't want to make life harder for any of my families. I'm thinking £2 or £3 a day increase which would be between a 6 % -9% rise.
Any thoughts?

My CM has popped mine up by 50p an hour recently and I don't mind paying this at all, they've got bills too and I don't want the people responsible for looking after my most precious thing struggling to feed their own kids or heat their home.

Still much cheaper than Nursery! :)

My CM increased by 25pph recently. I expected more so was pleased but wouldn't have been put out if it was more

50p on a 10hr day is £5 extra so £25 per week if full time

What are the other local cm charging

PeekAtYou · 04/01/2023 18:56

I would expect to pay more and wouldn't want my child to be cold and to do less activities because you didn't raise your prices. 6-9% is less than inflation so acceptable imo

Thanks for the replies. My existing families are definitely on a cheaper rate than other cms are now charging. Everyone I know has increased their prices. I suppose I just need to do it.
