Am I over-reacting?

I need to know if I'm overthinking/reacting.

On Monday I arranged with a babysitter to watch my daughter on Wednesday for 6 hours. I messaged the babysitter Tuesday morning to say that my daughter has a runny nose but no other symptoms. She said that's totally ok (on Monday she said there are no other kids booked in). I get a call Tuesday night at 7pm to tell me there is another kid booked in and the mum doesn't want my daughter there as she is 'being cautious because they're going on vacation Friday'. This mum and child was at a parent and tot Xmas party at the weekend (around 40 people there) ... not sure how 'cautious' she is really being. If she is concerned can't she keep her child at home instead of inconveniencing others? I feel I could be more understanding if she spoke to me personally, she has my contact details.

Im a business owner and I've had to cancel my day of work at 7pm the night before for this other mum. I feel totally dismissed and disrespected by this.

There has been a couple other incidents in the past where i have been be-littled and patronized bu this mum, so it's all annoying me lol.

Am I over-thinking??

You seem annoyed by the Mum but I don't understand why her booking over rode yours?

Moxie87 · 14/12/2022 08:20

I'm not sure either. I think maybe the mum needed a last minute sitter and offered more money per hour.

I would use a different babysitter from now on, clearly unreliable.

Choose alternative childcare

Why tell them your child had a runny nose? You’re making a deal out of an everyday occurrence for children.

Yes why didn't you just send them? Nursery is full of kids with runny noses.

A baby sitter works from your home not theirs. . I childminder works from their home and is Ofsted registered.....so are you using a childminder or an illegal childcare?

If you're child is too ill to attend childcare they stay home. If they are well enough and not contagious with any serious illness....this would now include symptoms of strep A and not taking Calpol they can attend ..
Do you have a contract and policies from your childcare?

For a start she isn’t a babysitter

they are people who sit in your house looking after your child. Not others

she sounds like a cm

ans no need to mention a runny nose as that happens lots

Firstly, it's not the other mums fault, it's the 'babysitter'.

Secondly, she's not a babysitter if she's operating out of her own home.

Thirdly, you didn't need to mention she has a runny nose. It's December, every single child in the UK has a runny nose.
