I need a nanny for two days a week

I have just found out that when my oldest boy starts pre-school in April the childminder who will take and collect him is going to charge me while he is there. This would not be so bad if she was more reasonably priced but with my two year old as well I will be paying £8 an hour. I am in Suffolk so that is on the high side for these parts but she is the only childminder in the village. It occurs to me that I could afford a nanny for the same money so I am currently exploring that as a possibility. Is there anybody out there who would like to look after my two boys (nearly two and nearly three) for two days a week? We are just outside Eye so driving is a must. If you are not a nanny but have any advice at all I would be extremely grateful - I understand it is quite difficult to find part-time nannies but here's hoping .

It's worth loooking on here, nannyjob, netmums etc.

2 days a week isn't that difficult. Or might you consider a nanny-share? Do you know someone who could make up 2 or 3 days?

Thanks. Yes I did think about that and discussed it with one mum but she has decided to go down the nursery route. I will keep option open

2 days a week isnt that difficult to fill

I know lots of nannies with 2 X 2 day jobs or 1X3 day and 1 X 2 day etc

however i would imagine it would be difficult to find a nanny for £8 gross per hour...
(I would suggest £10 - £11 gross (esp for a nanny share where you are paid slightly more)
as well as your employers NI contributions, + extra kitty money for nanny to take children out to music / toddler group / swimming / sot play etc.

Dont forget to budget for extra gas / elec in your house (with a nanny in your hosue the heating will be on all day etc, in the winter), as well as food for your children and the nanny as well as paying your nanny for using ehr car (unless you plan to provide one) at 40p per mile.

(Not suggesting you cant afford it, just that dont expect to get a nanny for a total of £8 per hour when you consider all the associated expenses )

Of course there are big advantages too... you could reasonabley expect a 2 day nanny to do a couple of loads of your childrens washing (and ironing) (maybe change their beds for you once a week to save you the hassel), and to cook them a nutriotuse lunch and tea, and help keep their bedrooms / playroom tidy. you are also likely to come home to yummy cakes etc sometimes for you to enjoy
