Paid childcare

Discuss everything related to paid childcare here, including childminders, nannies, nurseries and au pairs.

So apart from agencies, nanny share on here, nannyjob and gumtree, where else can I find a nanny?

Arrrrgghhh arrrgghhhh arrrghhhhh!

This is not going well. So far I have had one lovely girl with no experience or qualifications, one silly bint who didn't really want to work with children , one fantastic lady who would be great and was keen as long as she could work Mondays, Fridays and alternate weekends and one fabulous-sounding lady who has disappeared off the face of the earth since I asked her for her availability for an interview

Anyone any ideas where else I could try?

If London, then SimplyChildcare listing magazine.
Postcard in local newsagents.
Classified Advert in local paper.

Ooh might try greatcare thanks MM.

Not in London, so simplychildcare no good nannynick. Might have to consider local paper I guess.

angisnuts I'm in Cambridgeshire looking for someone part time to look after DS 8mo for 3ish days a week. So if you know anyone...

why don't you sign up with thenannysharers.co.uk? you can register for free if you like (just use promo code mumsnet33) no refunds i'm afraid for anyone already signed up. worth a go and certainly nothing to lose.

Postcard ads in shop windows/noticeboards in local cafe?
We used a noticeboard in a building which contained a nursery (amongst other things) it was a great place to put up a advert to catch the eye of nursery nurses who wanted to become nannies.
Maybe try local colleges that run childcare courses (either ad on noticeboard or see if they have anyone looking for part-time experience whilst they study)

Good luck.
