A friend of mine is an experienced nanny who wants to do an NVQ (or anything similar)
She cant afford to go to college - what are her options?
Thanks

She can do night school/distance learning/computer based course

Night school will probably be the cheapest

Her local childcare information service should have details of funded courses

I and 3 of my staff have all had free courses over the last 2/3 yrs

Don't know - but they cost a lot (or at least they did when I looked)

Distance learning isn't brilliant - but the OU do courses if you're working in an early year setting. You do coursework and then your setting is asked for a report.

You can definitely get funded NVQs - as katymac said, try the CIS.

I'm saving up for an OU one I think (unless I can access the transformation fund)

Try smarts training, my sister is just about to do her NVQ3 while she is working as a nanny plus she is getting partly funded.
