OK, maybe some premature worrying here but...
My DD will be starting school in Sept 09 - have started looking at local schools now which is why it is on my mind!
She is currently in a nursery which she loves as I work full time. I am hoping by then I will be working part time as baby no.2 is on the way, but I have no idea how we will deal with short school hours. We currently drop her off at 8 and pick up at 5:30ish, but school hours will be 9 to 3.
What are the options for the rest of the time? I know she can do after school clubs but what about before school? I have to be in work for 9.
Also, what on earth do you do in school holidays? Apart from anything else she will be bored witless without some organised activity on a daily basis!
I'm sure there are obvious answers to these questions but having used a nursery from the start I have never looked at the alternatives - please educate me!

Childminder

We have a cm who takes dd from 8-ish, drops her off at school, picks her up at 3 and looks after her till I leave work (any time between 4 and 5.30).

We are lucky that our cm can also do holidays, as she has some teachers' children during the day, who don't need looking after when the parents aren't working.

Summer hols can be a bit trying.... we've only had one of those so far1 Last year dd went to my Mum for 2 weeks, cm for 2 weeks and we took 2 weeks off as well. Thjis year, cm is taking off the first 3 weeks of the holidays....haven't quite worked out what we'll be doing, but cousins may be involved!
