2 days per week for 3 months only??

I will need to return to work for June/July/Aug. I have 3 dc (who will be aged 4, 2.9 and 10months). I could be flexible about which 2 days (just not Weds).

Obviously nursery is an option but the extra hassle of dropping off, picking up, packing bags for the next day, unpacking bags, etc mean that a nanny would definitely be preferable (esp with 3 kids meaning little difference in cost).

Would I be wasting my time trying to find someone when all I am offering is part time on a short term contract?

I did it. Well similar. I had dd and had to return to CM after two weeks for financial reasons (I knew already, I'd only taken holiday for the two weeks)

I only minded over 5s so not too bad, but I had a call for a mum wanting cover for 2 or 3 months, for two days a week from 11.45 - 5 a day, but the days would change each week. I was happy to do it. I'd do it now if I didn't have a regular mindee too, incidentally.

well, I don't suppose it is terribly likely, but I just advertised for some childcare (2 days a week) and got a reply from a lovely sounding person, who was interested in the job - only problem was, she was starting teacher training this Sept so was not available for work after that....

it strikes me you may get other students who are interested. The only thing would be they may lack experience which i think would be important with the ages of your dc

would you consider an agency?

MuddlingThru · 26/01/2008 22:03

F&Z - you're right I wouldn't want an inexperienced nanny given the ages of my dc.

Yes I would consider an agency. However I would want consistency - would I always get the same nanny for the entire period?

yes if you specified that was what you wanted

I think they specialise in unusual placements like this

it is worth a try, perhaps?

MuddlingThru · 26/01/2008 22:08

I might try giving a couple of agencies a call and getting their feedback. If they tell me there isn't a realistic chance then I can get on with booking nursery places.

You might get a relatively experienced nanny who is a uni student now?

I would do it if I wasn't graduating this summer.

Try nannyjob CVs - I think you can look at them without paying.

I might be able to help if you're any where near Herts.

Hi phraedd - sorry nowhere near Herts but would definitely have been interested if I was.
