Ideas for using 30 funded hours

I have a flexible working job which is 37 hours a week. Monday to Friday with 30mins lunch break. I am after ideas for picking my working hours around school run, and funded 30hrs.

It depends what childcare setting you use, but it’s 30 hours term time only so I get only 22 hours from my year-round nursery and they set the hours so I can only choose the days.

Is there a dad around too? What are his hours?

AquaticSewingMachine · 07/10/2022 15:56

Er, well, I'd just you know book the childcare I need for work and have them subtract the 30 hours termtime from it? Unless you really want to use a school nursery, but then you'll need holiday care and after-school.

Yes it's dependent on your childcare setting and not specifically your work hours. My funded hours means I get billed for 4 weeks some months and 5 weeks another month. It has nothing really to do with the hours you work.

Honestly I think it's more nursery pick how you use your hours, you just get to pick which days (depending on their availability)

The nursery we use has set sessions that you can choose from, so we can't actually pick the exact hours we would like, just have to use one of the 4 options given. And the 30 hours is term time only. They also charge for lunches and a service charge for something else I can't remember too.

I think you'll just have to accept you're going to have to pay full for some hours

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Dad is around but has varied schedule. I will be using term time only as I'll have school age kid at home so will arrange that seperately.

Most term time places are school nurseries only IME so limited flexibility on how you use the hours
