Hi, just looking for some advice as I am feeling a bit anxious. I decided to register as a CM now that my youngest is startng school, and have got as far as doing all the applications etc, having home visit and waiting to hear. at the end of the home visit, the inspector said she was really pleased with all she had seen and wanted to recommend i could CM up to 6 kids inc my own. but, she added, there was a hold up because my health declaration form had gone awol and ofsted were not sure they had got it from my gp. she asked me to chase it up.
today rang round and found that ofsted had receved it in nov and then when i rang the lady at ofsted she said she would wrte to me to explan what the outcome was. now i am paranoid, can they be about to refuse my registration because of my use of fluxotine for 4 months 18 months ago? i was prescribed it for bad pms. but was able to come off it after 4 months wth healthy diet and some excercise
this is the only real time i have had any healt issues so i keep thinkng it must be due to that.
now i am not sure what else i can do to help application along? any advice would be appreaciated, thanks

I know someone who had very similar circumstances and it all worked out fine. She had suffered from depression a really long time before, but they got her to visit their independent psychologist for a quick chat which was over in 5 mins and the hold-up was over. She is minding now. That might not even apply to you as pms not same as depression I would imagine ? Anyway, either way it won't stop you child minding. But don't be afraid to keep calling and chasing them on, you don't want to be kept waiting too long. Good luck !

I have been on anti depressants on and off in my life and didnt have a problem becoming a childminder. Also have a friend who was ON anti depressants when she registered so NO unless you are a danger to children which is unlikely you should be fine!

If Ofsted do refuse permission, you can always appeal to the Care Standards Tribunal. I've just had a quick look through past cases, and can't see PMS being mentioned. So either it isn't an issue, or hasn't ever got to a tribunal stage.
See what the verdict is from the health check... it does take time alas, and they may need more information before making a decision. Alas nothing you can do at the moment... just have to wait it out for a result, and then take things from there.
