Would you arrange backup childcare under these circumstances?

Hello everyone,
DH and I are about to put our house on the market as we would like to move to a more affordable city working remotely. At the moment we are taking turns with parental leave and we will be both back to work in roughly about 7 months. Our aim is to have found a nanny for DS by the time we are back to work.
I'm however a bit worried that in general a move like this can take a long time and if things went bad / slower we could end up where we are a bit longer with no childcare when it's time to go back to work. We have however decided where we are moving and we live in a neighborhood where selling property is quite easy for a number of factors.
My question is would you find back up childcare in your current place in case things went slower than you anticipated or rather what approach would you take? Most of the providers (looking at nurseries and childminders rather than nannies in current location) are obviously asking for deposits and it's quite a hassle to interview etc. hence why asking, besides it doesn't feel right to pretend we will be here for a long time.
Thanks a lot!

It depends what provision there is in your current area. In my area there are not enough childminders but plenty of nursery places and it would be no problem to decide now that a child should start nursery in a month. So you could find out what nurseries are available and if they have places. Then you may not need to do anything further until nearer the time. On the other hand I have a friend who lives elsewhere who looked at nurseries 6 months in advance and nowhere had full time places so she had to use one nursery for mornings and take her child to a different one for some afternoons. Bit of a nightmare. Anyway the deposits are usually only £60 ish and if you are thinking of getting a nanny you must earn enough that that sort of sum isn't an issue. Maybe worth it for the peace of mind....

@SnackSizeRaisin thank you so much makes a lot of sense! In our area nursery spots are hard to find so I have decided to go ahead with it.

I’d find a nursery in your current location and accept you might lose your deposit if things go to plan. Far better that then not have childcare and it be a huge challenge

@Walrus6 totally agree. I find the whole process of finding childcare so stressful 😵‍💫 will grab the space I found. Thank you so much!
