Hey, I am just seeing if anyone would be able to help me.

My hours are getting cut down to 16 hours a week at work and I was wondering if i work 16 hours a week but I am term time only will I still be able to claim the 30 hours funding?

It doesn't matter how many hours you are working, as long as you are in work/ on annual leave/ sick leave/ maternity leave etc (or you receive certain benefits - see link below).

However, your income in 3 months must exceed £1976 before tax to be eligible (so £658 per calendar month on average, or £152 per week). If you have a partner, they need to be earning above these thresholds also, for you to be eligible.

Also you aren't eligible if your pre-tax income or either you or your partner is over £100,000 (excluding pension contributions).

It may be that you don't qualify for the summer period if your pay is not spread over the year and depending on your hourly rate of pay. But if you are working term time only presumably you won't need childcare over the summer holidays anyway.

Thanks, I get paid monthly but its annually so I don't believe I will Qualify at all as it spread over the 12 months.

I'm a Registered Childminder so know a bit about funding and various scenarios.

You need page 11 of this statutory document www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-education-and-childcare--2. There is a grace period if you don't meet the eligibility criteria at which you can continue to recieve funding. You need to earn the lower earnings limit but if you don't over the grace period then you should retain your funding so you can keep your space. The 30 hours funding is also term time only and you won't need it over the summer. Your childcare provider will probably be able to confirm for you. If not then the childcare helpline should.

Thank you for your advice. I've managed to to talk to my manager and sorted my hours out so I am able to do 20 hours so I'm still able to claim.

They assess you eligibility in 3 month periods.

I thought you got 30 hours free aged 3, no matter what your salary

No, all 3 year olds get 15 hours the term after they turn 3 regardless of parents income. The 30 hours for parent earning over a certain amount.
